Polymerized horseradish peroxidase (pHRP)-labeled anti-Galectin-3 (R105) is a rabbit monoclonal antibody intended for laboratory use to qualitatively identify by light microscopy the presence of Galectin-3 in sections of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) and/or frozen tissues using immunohistochemistry (IHC) test methods. The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient’s clinical history and other diagnostic tests and proper controls interpreted by a qualified pathologist and/or physician. This conjugate has been pre-diluted and optimized for IHC use without further dilution.
ihcDirect Galectin-3 (GAL3) is a 30-kDa protein and member of the beta-galactosidase-binding lectin family. GAL3 is normally distributed in epithelia of several organs, in inflammatory cells such as dendritic cells, macrophages and is associated with cell growth as well as adhesion, inflammation, mRNA processing, and apoptosis. GAL3 has been shown to be related to malignancies and metastasis of carcinomas in thyroid, breast and colon tissues. GAL3 when used with morphologic and other thyroid markers such as TROP2, TPO, CD56, and CK19 may be useful in differentiating between benign and malignant thyroid neoplasms. GAL3 may also be useful in identifying Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma and in some non-cancerous liver disorders.
